2 Wheels 2 Châteaux

September 27, 2012 by Joanna King Leave a Comment

Together with the prestigious and charming luxury hotel the  Chateau de Mazan we are proposing a joint offer for a 2 or 3 day break in this beautiful part of Provence.  Stay in Mazan in the ancient home of the Marquis de Sade and bicycle to Chateau Unang.  This gentle meandering road takes you through some typical local farms.  Spend some time at Chateau Unang, visiting the cave, tasting the wine, wandering along the well marked “Vine and Wood path”,  followed by a picnic of the best local produce before heading back to the pool at Chateau de Mazan.  For more details please see below.

Provence in a bike ride

8 km of peaceful, little country roads, overlooked by mt Ventoux and les Dentelles de Montmirail, vines, cherries, asparagus, olives.

Arrival at the Caveau of Chateau Unang

This is a beautiful hidden family-run vineyard overlooking the plateau of Vaucluse and Venasque, bordered by the Nesque.  Here James and Joanna King create elegant fine wines from this unique terroir, that produced the very first Ventoux wines.   18 ha of vines are situated between 250 and 300m above sea level on an argilo-calcaire soil, surrounded by 40 ha of forest creating a natural micro climate where they are organically farmed.

Visit of the Cave

Guided tour of the chais, to get an understanding of the wine making process and see the different stages involved.

Wine Tasting

–         The vats, the barrels, bottles, labelling ……..
