This week found us in the Palais des Papes in Avignon.
‘Découvertes en Vallée du Rhône’ is a huge professional wine show in the Rhône Valley, held every two years, and this year we were lucky enough to be with all the southern Rhône wine producers in the majestically high ceilings rooms of this grand imposing historical palace for two days.
Wine buyers appear from all over the world as well as France to try and find the perfect wine for their clients. It is also a great time to catch up with all your fellow winemakers normally busily rushing from cave, to vineyard to computer to try and keep operations running smoothly.
As well as the main salon, there is an ‘Off’ programme which for Chateau Unang meant a v
ery lively night with the Grenache Association tasting magnums in a night club called Delirium and a very delicious dinner and wine tasting with the Femmes Vignes Rhone at Jardin de la Tour restaurant on the Monday night.
